| As a self-taught landscape
artist with a focus towards realism, James paints with inspiration from his
backpacking and hiking adventures. At the heart of Wine Country in Northern
California, vineyards heighten the beauty within his local surroundings. Although,
the rolling hillside vines will always be a part of what he paints, he turns
more of his attention to the back roads of Northern California’s lush
countryside. The inter-mingle of old barns, livestock, rolling hills,
meandering waterways and reflective high mountain lakes offer him an abundance
of subject matter for creating great art.
James has spent the past thirty years pursuing both his love of the outdoors
and his love for painting merging them into a realistic expression of color and
beauty.
"I love the outdoors and spend a lot of time in the back
country of Northern California, especially taking great pleasure in its higher
elevations. It's true that nature is God's artwork, and that's a tough act to
follow. But, painting nature as I see it, full of color and detail, giving one
the sense of actually being there is what I want to achieve as an artist."
